Bilingual dictation
Chinese and English, in the same sentence
Speak the way bilingual work actually sounds. ListenIn keeps the language switches, technical names, and Chinese script you intended.
What is mixed Chinese-English dictation?
Mixed Chinese-English dictation lets you speak one sentence that moves between Chinese and English without changing modes. ListenIn recognizes the sentence as a whole, cleans it, and inserts it at the current Mac cursor.
How does bilingual voice typing work?
-
Start dictation once. You do not choose an English or Chinese mode first.
-
Say the sentence the way you normally would: Chinese grammar, English product names, code terms, and all.
-
ListenIn recognizes and cleans the mixed sentence while keeping the intended writing system and technical vocabulary.

Do I need to switch language modes?
No. Mixed speech is treated as one sentence. You can say “我用 Claude Code 写了个 component” without stopping to change a language selector.
ListenIn’s cleanup prompt is designed to keep code-switching as code-switching instead of translating the English parts or forcing the whole sentence into one language.
What happens to code and product names?
ListenIn includes a technical lexicon for terms that ordinary speech often damages, including OAuth, regex, JSON, localhost, kubectl, SwiftUI, and Vercel.
For names specific to your work, add a term to the personal dictionary. Corrections can also be learned after you fix a word in the inserted text.
Will Simplified Chinese become Traditional, or vice versa?
ListenIn has a Chinese script lock. Your Simplified or Traditional preference is carried through cleanup instead of being chosen unpredictably by the model.
Is bilingual dictation the same as translation?
No. Bilingual dictation preserves the languages you spoke. Translate mode is a separate choice for cases where you speak in one language and want the final text in another.
You can also choose Verbatim, Standard, or Refined cleanup depending on how much of the original speech should remain.
Bilingual dictation questions
Can Mac dictation handle Chinese and English in one sentence?
ListenIn is built for that workflow. Speak a mixed sentence without changing language modes; cleanup preserves the intended Chinese and English parts.
Does ListenIn translate English words into Chinese?
Not in normal Dictate mode. Mixed-language dictation preserves the languages you spoke. Translate mode is separate and explicit.
Can it remember a Chinese name or company term?
Yes. Add the term to your personal dictionary, or correct it after insertion so the correction learner can suggest saving it.
Does bilingual dictation work in every Mac app?
Yes. ListenIn is system-wide and inserts at the current text cursor, subject to secure-input and password-field safeguards.
